‘Burton Sweet’s prompt advice was invaluable in setting our minds at ease and helping us plan for our future.’
Two of our clients required advice on how to maximise their available finances, so they could move in together.
When they met, they owned separate homes, but after a year they decided, as a couple, move in together, whilst renting the other property. They lived in this house for five years, until his job required them to relocate, with his employer providing them with accommodation in the Midlands. Consequently, they decided to let their house in Somerset for this period.
After two years, they returned to Somerset and decided to sell both properties and purchase a new home between them. They got in touch with Burton Sweet, as they were concerned about their potential Capital Gains Tax liabilities.
By contacting us prior to the sale of the houses, we were able to advise them on how to minimise their Capital Gains Tax liabilities, calculate the reliefs and allowances they could claim and provide an early estimate of the Capital Gains Tax payable, so they knew how much to set aside and prepare accordingly.
This meant they maximised how much they could spend on their new house. A combination of their forethought and Burton Sweet’s particular expertise meant they were better set for their future together.
