Charity Accounts Preparation

wave

Publishing high quality annual financial statements is a cornerstone of excellence in charity accountability.

If understanding and applying the requirements of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice is a daunting prospect, our experienced team can ease the burden by conducting this work on your behalf, or if you would like to prepare them yourself, we can provide advice and insights to ensure your presentation and disclosure is of high quality.

We believe that every charity is unique. Consequently, we don’t try to squeeze every set of accounts into a one-size-fits- all template. We prepare charity accounts on a bespoke basis without the use of accounts preparation software, which is often inflexible and unable to meet the unique needs of the varied sector. We can work with you to ensure that your specific charitable activities and fund accounting needs are clearly reported and explained.

We understand that the financial numbers and technical notes only form part of the story you need to tell. You may require advice on how to write and present an excellent Trustees’ Annual Report that not only meets the requirements of the Charities SORP, but goes above and beyond to truly show the difference you make. Burton Sweet can bring the words and numbers together, so people can see the whole picture.

We also offer assistance with formulating commonly misunderstood policies and disclosures around reserves, risk management, investments and fundraising.

At Burton Sweet, we ensure that we’re up to speed on the main accountancy software packages and are happy to both implement new systems and train you how to use them.

Whether you use Xero, QuickBooks, a spreadsheet, or a myriad of other systems, we can support you and provide practical suggestions to make your record keeping more effective.

Many smaller charities are eligible for exemption from preparing full accruals-based accounts under the Charities SORP. If this applies to your charity, then we can assist in preparing receipts and payments accounts for you, or train you to prepare them yourself.

Don’t forget: If your charity has income of over £25,000 for the year, you’ll need an independent examination. We can help!

If you want to feel confident your accounts are being prepared to the highest standard, get in touch with us, so we can discuss your needs and match you with one of our team.
