Trusts & Estate Planning

In addition to calculating capital gains and inheritance taxes, you will probably benefit from professional advice to capitalise on available reliefs and gifts. Assistance with the preparation of tax-efficient wills, and even strategies for post-death tax planning, are conducted in house by very experienced and insightful advisers.

TRUSTS

Our teams include members of STEP (Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners) as well as experienced members of the Chartered Institute of Taxation who are all able to both explain and work with legal advisers as necessary to set up and assist with the administrative issues of a trust.

These can be vital planning tools to ring fence assets. They are often used to ensure property cannot be directly beneficially owned until the beneficiary has reached a certain age, or to pass assets to future generations with control over the disposition of the asset/spending of any income from that asset remaining with advisers or other family members.

ESTATE PLANNING

We understand that it is never easy to talk about your own demise. However, planning for that eventuality and ordering your affairs accordingly is important to avoid an unnecessary tax liability and later uncertainty OR dispute.

We work with individuals and families to review assets and discuss your plans for these, as well as the liabilities that may arise from your wishes.

Looking at maximising available reliefs to reduce the liability to Inheritance Tax is key, as well as practical matters concerning liquidity within an estate and location of key documents. We will liaise with other advisers or recommend some contacts as necessary to ensure that you are able to get your affairs in order and remove this worry for you and your loved ones.

WILLS & EXECUTORSHIP

It is still a matter of concern that most people die without a Will. And even those with a Will often die with it being out of date for their current intentions, circumstances or assets.

Our teams include members of STEP (Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners) as well as experienced members of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, who are all able to both explain and work with legal advisers and Will writers as necessary to set up of a Will.

We are also able to assist Executors with the administrative issues of a Will, from the initial returns to HMRC and realisation of assets to dealing with estate accounts and tax returns.

Often we are best placed to liaise and ensure that the plans in a Will are practical and the most tax efficient, and our Estate planning support is able to recommend actions to minimise exposure to Inheritance Tax.
